Contention, Arizona Territory

After Greg Lawrence was arrested in Hereford, he is brought to Contention. Kenneth Gilchrist has also been arrested there. Because Lawrence violated the law in the Arizona Territory this time, he can now be convicted here. Doc Philips drives with his one-horse carriage into the city of Contention and he is going to lookout for a potential danger to lawmen which escort Lawrence from Hereford to Contention. US Marshal Charles Mooney is afraid of the Lawrence gang which will do anything to rescue their leader.

The US Marshal of the Arizona Territory Charles Mooney arrives with his deputy US Marshals, Cochise County Sheriff Grayson Lockwood and his deputys, with numerous Marshals from cities in Cochise County, the bounty hunter Christopher Van Molen and his prisoner Greg Lawrence in Contention.

Part of the lawmen posse is the marshal of Charleston, Walt Rowland, and Fairbanks marshal, Ruffin Tidball.

US Marshal Mooney will escort Lawrence to his jail and informs him that his hope for a rescue should be extremely low, since the environment has been completely secured. "If I were you, I would be glad if the Mexicans not coming to town, because of all these stolen cattles there!" Lawrence replies that he will be visiting Mooney in Prescott and then everyone in Yavapai County will know how well he can shoot. Mooney replies: "What is going on with you? So don't get me wrong, but what happened? You robbing a money transport to Tuscon ... in the Arizona territory...with second-rate bandits? What is wrong with you, Lawrence? Where is your gang? I don't want to be disrespectful, but where is your class gone? I almost feel sorry for you my guy!”

The lawmen posse hope Lawrence will be sentenced as soon as possible. They fear the Lawrence gang to be not far away.

Mooney and Lockwood talking to Josiah Hanley, Contention’s marshal, and assure him he and his two deputy marshals will receive assistance in guarding Lawrence.

The Wells Fargo stagecoach No.5, driven by Eugene Fisher, reaches Contention and makes a short stop here. French ordnanceman Auguste Delecroix, who will support Francis Oury in Bisbee, and Caithlyn Manatoe are two passengers who will leave the coach here.

Auguste Deleacroix is welcomed by Blake Winterburn, Vicente Cárdeñas and Ulyssess Stockwell. Francis Oury and Indian Charlie left the group to ride alone to Bisbee to get in touch with the latest news.

Cárdeñas, Stockwell and Delacroix went to the Pemberry saloon. Delacroix tells about the recent events in Hereford. Stockwell says he just heard they brought Lawrence here and he is sitting in prison now. Since Winterburn is not a fan of saloons, he doesn't accompany the three men, but enjoys his beer in front of the hotel to recover from his long ride.

Charles Mooney and Grayson Lockwood say goodbye to Greg Lawrence. Mooney tells him he will definitely have a good time now.

Liam and Hank Fisher were intrigued to see Greg Lawrence. While waiting with their mother, Diana Fisher, the doctor of Charleston, for their father Walt Rowland, the Marshal of Charleston, who was part of the lawmen posse who persecuted Lawrence, they saw the arrested Lawrence, of whom they were hearing a lot of tellings.

Now the family is driving back to Charleston in their carriage.
