Wayne Pescoe, Spencer Price and Zachary Pine are on their way to Mule Pass where they will meet the gang of Randolph McLaren. Price and McLaren are sure that Michael Buston is in Fairbank. Of all the bounty hunters who have arrived in Cochise County during the last few weeks, Michael Buston is the one who has the greatest reputation. Recently, Buston was able to face Brandon Miller from the Dodson Gang in Wichita. Buston came into Cochise County, as he heard of the high reward given to the stagecoach thieves, Keogh and Stubbs. He also suspects that Billy Dodson is also in the county.

The McLaren gang, consisting of Tilmothy Meade, Fancy Finley, Randolph McLaren, Joseph Hamilton, and Ernest Barbey, has the goal of driving each individual bounty hunter from Cochise County. Spencer Price assured McLaren of his support and joined two members of the Lawrence gang.

From the distance, the horsemen look at the saloon, in which they surmise Michael Buston. Fancy Finley says he must be there. Finally, he was sitting there yesterday and talking to the fat coachman, whom he told hero stories out of his past.. "Not even children would believe these ridiculous stories!"

Because the men think that Buston is not alone, they pull their revolvers and shyly the people, who are right in front of the saloon. Finley asks Herbert Blickson whether Michael Buston is in the saloon. Blickson answers with "yes".

Michael Buston amuses himself while he is entertaining the people who pursue his stories with pleasure. Buston is a sympathetic man who is very popular in Kansas. He is an extremely successful bounty hunter with a special reputation, which has given him a huge respect.

Price, Finley and Barbey surprise Buston completely. Buston is helpless and knows he has no chance. Finley greeted him with the words, "Well, you old man, I think the fairytale hour is over now."

McLaren tells Buston that he should drop his weapons and disappear immediately. He tells him that nothing will happen to him because he knows what good reputation he has. But now he must stop him and send him back to Kansas, because he is afraid of his health. Finley tells him, "Let's be honest, you're almost blind and I'd really like to shoot you, but I just avoid problems in my own county!"

The Marshal Ruffin Tidball, Arizona Ranger Hunter Hodgson and Deputy Marshal Ralph Long reach the saloon as the gang has already disappeared. They got the information that there would probably be a shooting in the saloon by a passover, who watched the scenario from afar.

Ulysses Stockwell and Indian Charlie have left Fairbank right away.

After the visitors of the Saloon had told Tidball what happened, the Town Marshal asks who were the men who threatened Buston. "The visitors say they do not know who they are. Tidball is sure that they know it, but they are afraid to tell the truth. Tidball tells Arizona Ranger Hodgson that the war has now also come to Fairbank. "I will immediately contact the US Marshal!" Certainly, this was a clear sign to all the bounty hunters who grab their hands for the reward. And the county is now filled with these bounty hunters.
