Santa Fe, New Mexico Territory

Francis Oury is on his way to Santa Fe, where he will meet Vicente Cárdeñas.

The Mexican Vicente Cárdeñas plays cards with Stewart Cassisy and José Fariás. Cárdeñas is often to find near the Wells Fargo station, just before Santa Fe. He has been with Francis Oury for a long time and so far has done almost every job with him and Auguste Delacroix. When Oury takes a new assignment, he usually comes to Santa Fe to visit Cárdeñas.
Oury's Mexican friend originally comes from the Mexican city of Nuevo Casas Grandes. For the inhabitants living there, he is something like a hero, as there are many stories describing his abilities. He's pretty taciturn, but he's probably one of the best shooters in New Mexico. Oury has always been able to rely on his faithful companion.
Stewart Cassidy and Howard Mutch founded the coffee company Mutch & Cassidy. Their coffee has an extraordinary taste and is therefore very popular. Cassidy, who comes from St. Louis, is on the way to Bisbee, where he and his partner will open a new shop.

Francis Oury arrives at the Wells Fargo station, which is just in front of the city boundary of Santa Fe.

Vicente Cárdeñas is pleased to see Oury and greets him with the following words: "Ahh, you heard about the robbery and now you are ready to garner the bounty?"
Oury replies that he wanted to ride to Bisbee to get information about the yesterday's attack.
"Down at Deming, a farmer's family was attacked. Bandits temporarily stolen their cattle, with whom the money transport was later stopped.
Maybe these were our wanted robbers, but I do not think, it would be clever if they were still in the area.
The three men, who had been attacked, said that there were unlikely many masked robbers from whom they could not recognize a single one. The people who sat in the money transport recognized Greg Lawrence, who was not masked. The guys took everything and loaded it into a covered wagon with which the farmers were traveling before. The carriage could be found at night, but there is no trace of the booty.
Cárdeñas replies: "A lot of cattle were stolen on the Mexican border two days before.
This is a damn criminal area. Perhaps someone of these bounty hunter wrongly calculated his costs and did not know how long he must stay in Bisbee.
The 4,000 dollar reward is not only quite appealing to us. "
Oury is not only interested in the money, he emphasizes repeatedly.

Their ordnanceman Auguste Delacroix was actually on his way to Bisbee, but then he decided to leave Deming to wait for Cárdeñas and Oury to get information on the robbery on the money transport.
Delacroix last stayed in Fort Worth. There he advised the Texas Rangers regarding their weapons.
Stewart Cassisy tells Oury that he would be happy, when he would visit his coffee house in Bisbee. He is always welcome there. He had heard of his persecution of “Knife" Kendrick und Pete Lanfield. That is why he is very impressed.

The scout Ulyssess Stockwell actually works at the Fort Riley (Kansas) and supports the cavalry there. He and his friend Indian Charlie, who also works as a scout for the army, were telegraphed by Delacroix. They will support Oury, Cárdeñas and Delacroix. They know the area, and they are also in a position to communicate with the Indians who might become a problem.

Oury, Cárdeñas and Delacroix will ride to Deming and will visit the farm family there for more information.
Oury fears Greg Lawrence has already been involved in the attack on stagecoach No.6.

After Oury, Cárdeñas and Delacroix could not get any further information in Deming, they ride together with Ulyssess Stockwell and Indian Charlie to Arizona.
Oury and Cárdeñas will travel directly to Bisbee. The three others will ride to Flagstaff and later on.
